EFI 4.2L | 5-SPEED MANUAL | COILOVER CONVERSION | FIBREGLASS BODY | JAGUAR OUTLAW; MORE CAPABILITY, SAME CHARACTER.
The Jaguar E-Type was first unveiled in 1961, designed by Malcolm Sayer, an aerodynamicist whose background in aircraft engineering shaped the car’s legendary silhouette. Upon its launch, the E-Type was an instant sensation — not just for its sleek looks, but for offering genuine 150mph performance at a fraction of the price of its Italian rivals. With its long bonnet, independent rear suspension and monocoque construction, it wasn’t just fast — it was technically advanced. Enzo Ferrari famously called it “the most beautiful car ever made,” and to this day, the E-Type is widely regarded as the grandfather of modern sports cars, setting the blueprint for what a fast, stylish and usable performance car could be. But let us be clear about one thing – this car isn’t just an E-Type. It’s an E-Type Outlaw.
What’s an Outlaw? Rod Emory, of Porsche Fame, coined the phrase when the cars he had built were excluded from certain car shows and club events by Porsche Purists. An “Outlaw” is essentially a car that has been modified or improved using non standard parts. This is not a car that is suited to the Jaguar Purist.
At first glance, it’s all E-Type. Long bonnet. Sleek haunches. That unmistakable silhouette. But this isn’t you normal run of the mill 60’s classic car that struggles to start, you wouldn’t dare take on an extended journey and will get diced at the lights by a GTI — this car instead lives up to the jaguar moniker, its got claws!
“Reimagined” by one of its previous owners in the UK, this E-Type has been modified to optimise its performance on the road, without straying to far from the original character of the car. This Jag has been reimagined as a driver’s car — one that starts easy, runs well, performs strongly and turns every drive into a -bloody- good time.
Under the Challenger fibreglass skin lies a 4.2L Series 2 E-Type engine, now breathing through a custom electronic fuel injection setup, managed by an EFI Tech ECU. In place of the 4 Speed Manual Transmission, a crisp 5-speed manual (Sourced from a Toyota Supra) has been installed for gearing that is more suitable for modern roads and speed limits. Handling has also been handled — thanks to a full coilover suspension setup and upgraded rear diff. This outlaw accelerates harder and turns better than most 60s cars have any right to.
Included with the car is a significant file of background and history on the vehicle dating back as far as 1989, and even the cars original registration plates from the UK, and its tags from its time in the US as well.
The current owner realised a dream when he obtained this vehicle, and has used it regularly as the Full Transferrable, Tasmanian Registration would infer. Regrettably this legend is now aging out of the car, and has now decided its time for the vehicle to enrich its next custodians life.
Whether you’re into restomods, outlaws, or just driving something that breaks necks and traditions, this Jag E-Type offers all of the character of the original vehicle….but with much. more capability. We love to Drive, Drivers – and behind the wheel of this historically significant icon: you will too!
