2014 was a big year for Mercedes, not only did they have a brand new 4 Litre Twin Turbo C63 in production… but they also had the soon-to-be hyper hatch A45 rolling into the driveways of enthusiasts the world over! Kind of hard to believe, but the AMG A45 was a pretty close competitor to the outgoing X204 C63 – Early 2008 models were putting out about 336kw at the flywheel (allowing for drivetrain loss this brings the figure back to around 302kwkw), whereas this little weapon is said to be making a touch over 300kw at the wheels in a car that is nearly 1/3 of a tonne lighter. Yup. That works out to be nearly a .5kg/kw improvement on the outgoing C63. 0-100? Well, the a45 was only .1 of second slower then the old v8 c63… when stock. Pretty impressive stats, but then again, this car is pretty damn impressive too!
This much-loved example has had just three passionate enthusiast owners from new, all of whom maintained it to a high standard and kept good records of doing so.
Accompanying the car are two keys, all of the delivery books, documented service history and a full rundown of all the modifications performed to the vehicle. In addition to its already impressive AMG pedigree, the car has been upgraded with a GCG5452R turbocharger, Mishimoto cold air intake, and a 3” Dyne Performance downpipe — all professionally fitted by Shaw Performance, with $8,634.95 in receipts.
Since then, the car has been exclusively maintained by Rennhaus, ensuring peace of mind for the next owner. Brakes were replaced at 100,000 km, and the car has continued to receive consistent upkeep.
Inside, the cabin is clean and tidy, showing only light wear consistent with age.
Outside, the Calcite White paint presents well with only minor chips and blemishes – and far fewer then you would expect for a car with this odo reading!
A Carbon Fibre rear wing very similar to the current shape A45 has been fitted to modernise the A45’s silhouette but otherwise the car remains tastefully original to Mercedes original design.
Mechanically, the A45 performs brilliantly, with the upgraded hardware combining with the factory AMG exhaust and downpipe to deliver a raucous soundtrack and noticeably increased performance. While no dyno sheet is supplied, comparable builds with identical hardware consistently achieve 300+ kW at the wheels, and this example feels every bit as strong as that, This is not just another A45 — it’s a carefully enhanced and enthusiast-owned car that’s been maintained by the right people. Practical enough to daily, yet ferociously quick when called upon, it represents one of the most exciting performance hatchbacks you can buy.
