ALL ELECTRIC | DUAL MOTOR AWD | ONE OWNER TASMANIAN CAR | LOW KM | AMG 20s | AMBIENT LIGHTING | 360 CAMERA | KEYLESS-GO | 300kW & 760Nm
Some electric cars feel like gadgets. This doesn’t. The EQC400 feels like Mercedes-Benz built a proper Mercedes first… and then installed the EV Powertrain.
Powered by dual electric motors producing 300kW and a massive 760Nm, the EQC launches with the sort of effortless acceleration that makes overtaking feel like a joy. 0-100km/h happens in just 5.1 seconds, yet it does it without drama, noise, or theatrics. Just instant shove and eerie silence.
Unlike some EVs that seem determined to remind you they’re electric every five seconds, the EQC instead focuses on what Mercedes has always done well: refinement. The cabin is exceptionally quiet, beautifully insulated, and genuinely luxurious. This particular car is finished in Obsidian Black metallic over black interior trim and is optioned with AMG 20-inch double-spoke wheels, ambient lighting, heated front seats, memory electric seats, acoustic glazing, KEYLESS-GO, hands-free electric tailgate, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Dynamic LED headlights and a full suite of driver assistance tech including DISTRONIC adaptive cruise, Active Lane Change Assist, road sign recognition and a 360-degree camera system. And the stereo is excellent!
Range anxiety? Nope. With a claimed range of over 400km from its 80kWh battery, the EQC sits in a sweet spot that makes it genuinely usable day to day, without demanding the “charge planner lifestyle” some earlier EVs became known for. In real-world use, expect roughly 400km depending on driving style and conditions, which still comfortably places it alongside many newer electric SUVs on the market today. Mercedes also engineered the EQC conservatively compared to some rivals, meaning the battery system prioritises longevity and consistency over headline-chasing numbers.
The EQC has also developed a strong reputation as one of the more dependable luxury EVs available. Unlike some newer brands still ironing out software tantrums and build quality gremlins, the EQC benefits from Mercedes-Benz’s established engineering and dealer network. Owners and reviewers alike consistently praise the car’s solid build quality, refined driving experience and generally low maintenance requirements. With no traditional engine servicing, no gearbox, and significantly fewer moving parts than a combustion SUV, ownership can feel refreshingly straightforward.
This particular example is a very tidy one-owner Tasmanian vehicle and presents exactly how you’d hope a well-kept Mercedes should. Subtle, modern and understated, the EQC manages to stand out without screaming for attention. It’s less “look at me” and more “I know what I bought.”
And perhaps that’s the EQC’s greatest trick. It doesn’t feel like a compromise. It feels like a luxury SUV that just happens to be unbelievably quick, whisper quiet, and able to skip servo visits entirely.
Electric doesn’t have to mean boring.
