Founded by legendary racer, engineer and team owner Jack Roush, Roush Performance became one of the most respected names in American motorsport and high-performance engineering. Although independent from Ford, the relationship between the two companies was unlike almost any other manufacturer and tuner. Roush built championship-winning race cars, developed components for Ford production vehicles and transformed factory Mustangs into something far more special. For Australian enthusiasts, the easiest comparison is HSV’s relationship with Holden or FPV’s relationship with Ford Australia.
Offered here is a genuine serialized 2007 Roush Stage 3 Mustang, build number 07-150. Showing an astonishingly low 12,900km from new and paired with a proper 5-speed manual transmission, this is not simply a Mustang GT wearing aftermarket parts. It is an authentic Roush-built vehicle carrying its original Stage 3 serialisation plaques and factory-engineered performance package.
Power comes from a Roush-supercharged 4.6-litre three-valve V8 producing 415 horsepower and 385 lb-ft of torque, equivalent to approximately 309kW and 522Nm. In period, those figures placed the Stage 3 amongst the most potent V8 performance cars available, comfortably matching many of the flagship HSV and FPV offerings of the day while delivering the unmistakable character that only a supercharged American V8 can provide.
As the flagship of the Roush range, the Stage 3 package included the Roushcharger supercharger system, upgraded suspension, distinctive Roush alloy wheels, aerodynamic body enhancements, bonnet scoop, rear wing, side skirts, graphics package and numerous chassis refinements developed by one of America’s premier performance engineering firms.
What truly separates this car from the countless Mustangs now seen on Australian roads is its rarity and provenance. Long before Mustangs became a common sight at local Ford dealerships, cars like this represented the pinnacle of American muscle ownership in Australia.
