This 1968 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 is finished in the only colour that really matters on a classic Jaguar: British Racing Green. Paired with a proper manual gearbox and Jaguar’s legendary 4.2-litre straight-six, it represents one of the most iconic shapes, sounds and driving experiences of the classic era.
From factory, the 4.2-litre XK engine was rated at approximately 265hp and 283lb-ft of torque, giving the E-Type the kind of effortless, long-legged performance that made it a genuine world-beater in period. Even today, there is something deeply special about the way these cars deliver their power: smooth, mechanical, torquey and full of character.
This example shows 39,151 miles on its five-digit speedometer and has been owned within the same circle of friends for the past 35 years. It is now being offered due to the downsizing of a private fleet, rather than any lack of love for the car.
Importantly, this E-Type comes with its Jaguar Heritage Certificate, along with a folio of receipts documenting parts purchased and work undertaken over the years. It has also just benefited from nearly $10,000 in recent refresher works, carried out to bring the car up to what the owner considers to be a properly saleable condition.
