This TT is effectively the GTI that lost its puppy fat and put on some big dog muscle. Woof!
With just 63,000km, a proper 6-speed manual gearbox, full service history and some very worthwhile performance upgrades, it represents an increasingly rare combination of modern usability and old-fashioned driver involvement.
Mechanically, there’s plenty of Golf GTI DNA underneath, including that excellent EA888 engine, but the TT wraps it in something considerably lower, lighter and more exotic-looking.
This isn’t an example that’s bounced between owners and modification workshops. The car has been with its current mature owner since shortly after its 2016 repairs and has subsequently been meticulously maintained.
It comes with a full documented service history, with servicing undertaken through Audi dealerships and respected Audi and Volkswagen specialist Rennhaus. Combined with its modest 63,000km, its long-term ownership is a particularly appealing part of this car’s story.
The factory specification is excellent too. It received the desirable S line Sports Package, Audi Matrix LED headlights, Bang & Olufsen premium audio, MMI Navigation Plus, Comfort Key, reversing camera and Parking Aid Plus, Audi Drive Select, forged 19-inch alloy wheels, Alcantara/leather S sports seats, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and extended aluminium interior trim.
More than a decade after it was built, the third-generation TT interior remains a wonderful place to sit. It was one of those rare Audi designs that arrived looking futuristic without subsequently ageing like yesterday’s smartphone.
Repairable Write-Off Declaration
We believe enthusiast cars should be sold with their history explained rather than hidden, so we’ll address this one properly.
The vehicle is recorded on the PPSR as having been declared a repairable write-off in Queensland in March 2016, following an impact to the passenger-side rear. The PPSR subsequently records the car as inspected in Queensland in September 2016, following its repair.
We understand that the car was rear-ended, necessitating replacement of components including the rear bumper and lights. The PPSR records the affected areas as Passenger Rear, Chassis/Structural Rail (Passenger) and C Pillar Passenger.
It is possible that this classification resulted from damage involving the rear body or boot-floor structure, given these areas form part of the TT’s structural body shell. Interestingly, the rear hatch and its glass remain original, which is consistent with the impact having been concentrated lower in the rear of the vehicle rather than requiring replacement of the complete hatch assembly.
Following its repair and inspection, the TT was purchased by its current owner shortly thereafter. Almost a decade of use has now passed since the accident, during which the car has been meticulously maintained, and we are not aware of any ongoing mechanical, structural or operational problem resulting from its previous write-off history.
The vehicle has also subsequently passed a Tasmanian roadworthy inspection without issue.
We appreciate that a previous repairable write-off won’t suit every buyer, and we’ve priced the car accordingly. At $25,500, it has been deliberately discounted from the near on $30k retail valuation indicated in the vehicle report, giving the next owner the opportunity to buy a low-kilometre, manual, reliable and well cared for TT at an attractive price. We’ve honestly seen some first gen cars list for more!
Most importantly,We would be only too happy to assist a prospective purchaser with any independent mechanical, body, structural, paint or other inspection they may wish to undertake, and actively encourage buyers to satisfy themselves as to the quality of the previous repairs and the vehicle’s current condition.
So, what’s the package? A 63,000km manual TT, approximately 223kW and 508Nm, upgraded clutch, mature long-term ownership, full Audi/Specialist service history, excellent factory specification and a price that appropriately recognises its history.
If you’re looking for a garage ornament with an immaculate PPSR, this isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a beautifully maintained, properly quick and increasingly uncommon manual Audi sports coupe that you can actually get out and enjoy, we’d suggest coming and having a drive.
Trust us – you won’t be bored!
