Before everything became another grey SUV, the Japanese were building luxury lounge rooms on wheels like this Nissan Elgrand Highway Star. Eight seats, a silky V6, captain’s chairs that swivel to face each other, electric curtains and enough gadgets to make a first-class airline seat feel under-equipped.
Oh, and of course, it has colour changing chameleon paint from factory. At first glance it looks black. Then the light hits it.
Depending on the angle, the paint reveals rich shades of purple, blue and green through a colour-shifting pearl finish that gives the Elgrand an almost liquid appearance. Combined with the Autech body kit and chrome detailing, it creates a look that’s equal parts luxury cruiser and Tokyo VIP build.
The factory Autech body kit complements the paint beautifully, giving the Elgrand a lower, more purposeful stance than a standard model.
